There was a time when seeing a wild turkey in NH was a myth. According to the NH Fish & Game Department, by 1854 wild turkeys had completely disappeared from the state due to habitat loss and subsistence hunting (hunting for food).

In 1975, 25 wild turkeys were re-introduced into Walpole, NH. An increase in numbers was a bit slow at first. By 1989, the turkey population in NH remained below 2500 birds and most could only be found south of the Connecticut River Valley. There was no fall turkey season and spring hunters accounted for roughly 100 turkeys harvested.

Today there are believed to be more than 40,000 turkeys and they range state-wide. WMU A is the only zone in the state that does not have a turkey season...yet. In 2010, spring hunters harvested 3,667 turkeys and fall hunters harvested 1010 birds (291 fall archery kills and 719 fall shotgun kills). The heavies bird taken in 2010 was 26.5 pounds.

Seven of the 25 heaviest turkeys harvested in 2010 were taken in WMUs L or M. Where we focus!

We are turkey hunters. Therefore we only guide a handful of turkey hunters each spring.

Hunters interested in a spring turkey hunt should book early.

To date, almost all of the hunters we have ever brought into the woods has come out with a turkey. It may have taken a second trip on one or two occasions but they all got their bird.

We DO NOT guarantee a kill but we DO guarantee you will feel like you are in pursuit of birds.

Turkey hunting is very interactive and fast paced with hens yelping and toms gobbling first thing in the morning, birds constantly on the move, and the occasional tom that can be seen strutting from a road for all to see.

We scout early to establish bird locations and proper approach routes to set up, hopefully, without getting busted.
